MISSION STATEMENT of the LOUISIANA STATE BOARD OF CHIROPRACTIC EXAMINERS

The mission of the board is to protect the public health, safety and welfare through the regulation of individuals licensed under the authority of the Board. To this extent, the office of the Board receives information concerning possible professional misconduct from various sources. such as, but not limited to, the following.
- Consumer complaints
- Insurance carrier complaints
- Professional complaints;
- Newspaper article reports
- Law enforcement authority reports.
Another primary responsibility of the Board is to provide for licensing and examination of doctors of chiropractic and ensuring that persons practicing chiropractic in Louisiana are properly educated and qualified. While the Legislature defines the profession as well as the scope of activity within the profession, the Board of Examiners provides the ongoing regulation of the profession. This regulation is accomplished by the:
- Issuance of licenses and certificates to qualified doctors and assistants;
- Communication of information about professional practice, licensure and discipline;
- Development of policies, standards and guidelines for professional practice;
- Disciplining of licensees for misconduct;
- Collection of licensing fees and other funds used for regulation of the profession.
The Louisiana Board is a member of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards whose mission is to protect the public and interact with other state boards by promoting excellence in chiropractic regulation.
