Application Review Process

The Louisiana State Board of Chiropractic Examiners (“the Board”) reviews and processes a large volume of licensure applications each year. As part of this process, the Board collects and verifies credentials submitted by the applicant, along with information obtained from other state licensing jurisdictions when applicable.

Each application undergoes a comprehensive evaluation, which may include confirmation of current or previous licenses held in other states and review of any disciplinary history associated with those licenses.

Processing times vary and may range from several weeks to several months. The length of time depends on how quickly the applicant submits required documentation and whether any issues arise that require additional review.

Please note that licensure is not guaranteed.

Once the application is received and reviewed, the board prepares and sends out a missing document report (deficiency letter) via email to request additional information.  Please monitor your dashboard and your email frequently to get an accurate status of your application, and to respond to correspondence from the Board.  It is essential that you keep your contact information updated in the system.

Please be aware that, under the Board’s policies, you must submit your LSBCE application and payment before completing a background check. If a background check is submitted prior to applying, you will be required to complete a new background check, which may cause significant delays in processing your application.

If a background check is submitted prior to applying, you will be required to complete a new background check, which may cause significant delays in processing your application.

As required by Louisiana law, LA R.S. 37:2808.L.a & b, the Louisiana Board of Chiropractic Examiners is required to conduct state and federal criminal background checks through the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (DPS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for all applicants.

All applicants must submit fingerprints through IdentoGO, either electronically (Livescan) or by using fingerprint cards. Applicants must also complete and sign the required release form and return that back to our state office, which can be accessed under “Privacy Act Documents.”

Applicants residing in Louisiana, applicants residing out of state, and international applicants should follow the instructions that apply to their location. Regardless of the method used, all applicants must register with IdentoGO—whether using Livescan or submitting fingerprint cards through the Cardscan process and mailing them to IdentoGO in Florida. Should you require fingerprint cards, please contact our office and we will provide them to you.
